Executive Board Meeting

Meeting called to order Agenda Approved

Checkbook currently has $7516.00

Talked about our new membership with NRPA – President is paid for with membership and then we also paid for Pat Thompson since he is out NRPA Rep.

Membership – 249 members currently we had 207 last year at this time.

Communications:  One new job announcement list on the website. Still need job descriptions for a few of the board positions.  Also we talked about the SDPRA banners and who has them.  We also talked about the different designs that they had on them.

Activities: Getting ready for the Hershey Track meet.

                        Outdoor Expo – Wanted to help someone else with their booth and not do their own at this event.

Awards:  Asking for nominations to Erin by August 18th

Cemetery:  5 members at April meeting

Constitution: Better future for LWCF (60 Million)

Local governments sent in apps for grants that total $240,000  with a deadline of July 15th

Community Recreation Centers:  Still recruiting people, sent in items for the state conference that they would like to see

 

Old Business:

            Midwest Conference:  Deposited 4866.84 into SDPRA account and sent the $3000 on to Wyoming

Internships across the state – 10-12 at the state parks this year

Need to rewrite letter to the Hall of Fame to ask them to hang up a plague each year with our Hall of Fame Winner’s name on it.

Need TR Branch Rep – will send an e-mail to all members of that Branch asking for a Rep for the board.

We also talked about e-mailing all the members on the board that have held a committee for a while asking if they would still like to head it up or if we need to find someone to take it over.  There have been some committees where the lead person has not shown up for over a year at meetings.

Maintenance School:  Held in Sioux Falls and Rapid City

                                    $1680 in revenue

                                    $150.00 in bills

Great Day of Play:  Lists are growing on the website as to what is going on that day. (Aug 15th).  There will be a logo on an item from the Dept of Health to be given away that day.

 

New Business:

Worked on Budget for 2008

TR and Student Rep looking for people to fill each of these

National Congress: Sept 25-29 in Indianapolis (Pat, Lon, Jerry and Becky)

Playground Course:

            NRPA Profit Sharing

            $90 cost suggested

            40 people needed

            3 hour course

They provide some items and we provide others (room, food, etc)

NRPA needs $2400 before they will send an instructor

            Kelby will ask if they will settle for a flat fee and then we could do it at the conference.

 

Next Meeting is Sept 18th at 11:00 a.m. in Aberdeen at the conference.
