2007 SDPRA Goals:

Students

Internships – Get information on any internship to Keith to be posted on the web site – include contact information/ web site/ e-mail / amount of pay / duties

Universities with park and recreation programs to get together and meet as a group

Round table discussion at conference or another type of session that gets students more involved with other professionals

Get information from colleges that provide degrees in parks and recreation for everyone to have to handout as a recruiting tool

 

Involvement, Membership, Communication

Try to get involvement from the Senior Center recreational programs

Quick Hits –    get information to Becky Graff

                        1 issue per year information due February 15th

                        Send copies to universities for the students

SD Hall of Fame – get a plaque in the center each year with the name of our Hall of Fame Winner for SDPRA

Goal of having at least 25 students from the universities attend the conference each year. Provide lodging for students that attend the conference.

Continue using the banner for all of the SDPRA events also use at college career days

Find a TR Branch representative to serve on the board

To work through the Municipal League to promote our SDPRA classes and activities

            Try to submit items for their newsletter

            Try to increase the number of items we send to them

            Place an ad with them in their newsletter

To promote the certification process among young professionals of our organization and strive to have our colleges get creditidation

To have an installation of new officers ceremony at the awards banquet to help people recognize who the new officers are for the organization

To secure more members from the community recreation branch through university recreation centers, YMCA and Boys and Girls Clubs

Keep sending letters to all past members encouraging them to join our organization again after the conference each year.

To have a maintenance school in 2007 with a new coordinator

Continue to outreach to local communities to increase participation in the Hershey Track Meet

Explore ideas of having activates at four large fairs (State Fair, Sioux Empire Fair, Brown County Fair and Central States Fair) with Game, Fish and Parks

To pursue new statewide events for Healthy SD – Great Day of Play – Aug 15th

Support the Midwest Conference in Sioux Falls this year

Provide Aquatics workshops each year

Explore opportunities in the SD Outdoor Expo
